Day 01: Flight to India (Chennai)
Around Midnight arrive in Chennai (formerly known as Madras). Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Chennai - Mysore (by train)
In the morning depart Chennai by train for Mysore. Arrive Mysore and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Mysore - Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary - Mysore
Today you will drive to visit Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary is around 20 km from Mysore. This bird sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River, includes a group of six islets as well. This bird sanctuary attained the status of a bird sanctuary in the year 1940. The large number of birds at the sanctuary has attracted large number of tourists. Some species of birds that are found here are Spoonbills, Open bill Storks, Darters, White Ibis, Little Cormorants, Egret, Heron, Partridge, River Tern, Stone Plougher, Snake Birds, etc. You can also have ride along the river and the islets, to witness the trees full of beautiful birds of myriad varieties. After visiting this sanctuary you will drive back to the hotel in Mysore.
Day 04: Mysore - Nagarhole National Park
In the morning drive to visit Nagarhole National Park. Its dense deciduous forests are the habitat of the Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Elephant, Sambar, Chital, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Langur and about 250 species of birds including the magnificent Malabar Pied Hornbill and the Great Black Woodpecker. You will enjoy guided safari of the park. Evening free for leisure.
Day 05: Nagarhole National Park - Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
In the morning again you can have safari in the Nagarhole National Park and then you will drive along the forest stretch to Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
Day 06: Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
In the morning and evening enjoy birding in Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary. Overnight at lodge.
Day 07: Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Ooty
In the morning again you will have a stroll through Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and then, you will pass through the Tea plantation and eucalyptus forests of mountains of Nilgiri and arrive in the city Ooty (Udhagamandalam). Ooty was developed as hill station by British, lies at an altitude of 2300 m. and still has British flair.
Day 08: Ooty
You will visit the famous and most beautiful botanical Garden of Ooty which covers an area over 20 hectares and is planted with more than a thousand varieties of plants, shrubs and trees including orchids, fern and alpine. In the afternoon and evening enjoy birding around Ooty. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Ooty - Munnar
In the morning you will drive to Munnar. Munnar lies at an altitude of 1530 m and is surrounded by Tea and Cardamom fields. Beautiful scenery in and around makes this place worth visiting. Today you will explore the surrounding on your own and enjoy birding around Munnar.
Day 10: Munnar - Periyar National Park
In the morning you will drive further to visit Periyar National Park. You will have a Boat ride on the lake of Periyar. The lake of Periyar is the central point of the famous Periyar National Park. It covers an area of 780 square km and was designated a part of project Tiger in 1973. After the boat ride you will drive through the Park and observe the activities of Elephants, Bison, Sambar, Wild Oxen, Wild Boar and Spotted Deer which are common here and various birds.
Day 11: Periyar National Park
In the morning and evening enjoy game viewing in the Periyar National Park. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12: Periyar National Park
Full day birding in the Periyar National Park. Overnight at hotel.
Day 13: Periyar National Park - Kumarakom
Today after having breakfast you will drive to Kumarakom. In Kumarakom you will enjoy the Boat ride trip through the tropical vegetation on the backwaters.
Day 14: Kumarakom
In the morning you will visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Earlier an old rubber plantation, Kumarakom was developed into a bird sanctuary on the banks of Vemband Lake spreading over 14 acres of land. It is now a leisure retreat very popular with foreigners. This sanctuary is on the southern bank of Kavanar River opposite the Coconut Lagoon. Kumarakom is home to numerous species of birds, such as Darters, Bitterns, Teal, Waterfowl, Cuckoo, Wild Ducks, Brahminy Kites, Marsh Harries, Teals and Herons and Siberian storks. You will visit the Sanctuary by having a boat ride.
Day 15: Kumarakom - Kochi (Cochin) - Chennai
In the morning you will drive to Kochi (Cochin). This drive gives us again an impression of the beautiful landscaping of this region. Cochin is the most interesting town in South India at Malabar Coast and is also known as Venice of South. Transfer to airport to board the flight for Chennai.
Day 16: Chennai (Departure)
Around midnight flight to home destination.
